Happy NY!

2 januari 2018 - Toronto, Canada

---  Happy New Year and have a lovely and healthy 2018!  ---

Last week was a great experience with crazy nice people. We have been doing some sightseeing in Toronto, such as the shopping malls :P, Toronto square, and the distillery district. A bit too much too write in details about it. But we did not only do some sightseeing, we also tried to blend in with the local youth on a party on NYE. We took a taxi to the party as it was minus a lot degrees and jeans were not allowed. I was surprised that all Canadian girls don't seem to bother the cold and were walking around in tights or even bare legs! Another surprise, after getting in building was the fact that the wardrobe was already full because they did not count on the fact that everyone would wear his/her winter coat.. But after a while we found ourselves on the dance floor hip-hopping all night. At midnight we went Dutch style, gave each other three kisses and the first song that came on was the 'Nederland o Nederland' song. Apparently this tune is more listened to in Canada than in the Netherlands :P. Due to the jetlag we weren't home that late and could function pretty good the next day.

We decided to go to a museum to start the new year in a responsible way and to make sure that we will be a bit smarter this year than the last one. The Royal Ontario Museum it was! This immense building had something for everyone, but I only went to the exhibition of Wildlife Photographer of the Year. What a great pictures! After the museum me and Maya were planning on going to the Toronto Islands, however it was cold and I did not bring a thermal legging. So, we decided to go to the shopping mall first. But in the end, we skipped the Island and said that we will be going the next day no matter what happens!

Well, the next day, after visiting Chinatown and the Media District, we went to the harbour and we found ourselves deceived. The ferry was being repaired as it was broken due to the big ice floes on Lake Ontario. Too bad for us, but a good reason to come back to Toronto!

Tomorrow we will be moving to Hamilton and I will see the room were I'll be staying the next couple of months. Hopefully it will be cozy, but otherwise I'll have an IKEA on a 20min. distance.

Speek to you later!
